$3 MILLION FOR TEENAGER WHO LAPSED INTO DIABETIC COMA
Failure to diagnose diabets in a 13 year old boy who lost significant weight in a short period of time.
As a result, he lapsed into a diabetic coma and suffered permanent brain injury. Insurance coverage
for the treating physician and hospital was exhausted in settlement of this action prior to jury selection
and will pay in excess of $7,000,000 over the plaintiff's lifetime.
$1,980,000 FOR TWO ELDERLY FLORIDIANS INJURED IN MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
Two senior citizens of Florida were struck by a motor vehicle in a parking lot. Each suffered injuries to
their lower extremities requiring surgery. The claims were settled for the available insurance policy limits.
$650,000 FOR FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE CANCER
Plaintiff, a schoolteacher was under the care of an internist and hematologist, each of whom failed to diagnose
a malignancy in plaintiff's appendix. The delay in diagnosis caused neurologic injury to the plaintiff's leg.
$250,000 FOR TRUCK DRIVER WHO INJURED FOOT ON THE JOB
Plaintiff's foot became stuck between his truck and a concrete loading dock, causing a fracture. Following
mediation, the case settled for $250,000.
$1,750,000 AWARDED FOR FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE HEART DISEASE
Plaintiff, a 49 year old, self-employed husband and father of three died suddenly following myocardial infarction.
The treating internist failed to diagnose and treat his coronary artery disease and thus prevent a fatal heart
attack. The case settled during jury selection. A structured settlement will yield over $4,750,000.
SLIP AND FALL IN A MALL RESULTS IN $1,550,000 SETTLEMENT
This case settled during trial after plaintiff testified. Plaintiff established that defendants allowed the roof to leak
which resulted in a puddle causing plaintiff to slip and fall. Plaintiff suffered soft tissue injury and instability to his
knee requiring surgical intervention.
$850,000 FOR DRIVER WITH NECK AND BACK INJURIES
Plaintiff, a 54 year old carpenter, sustained neck and back injuries when defendant's vehicle, while making a left turn,
struck plaintiff's vehicle. Plaintiff underwent surgery and was unable to return to work. The settlement, reached prior
to trial, included a waiver of a substantial lien.
$750,000 FOR DEATH OF CONSTRUCTION WORKER
A 40 year old worker fell from a scaffold for unknown reason, losing counciousness upon impact. He died five days later. Despite his sporadic employment history, a settlement was obtained on the eve of trial.
$3 MILLION FOR PEDESTRIAN PINNED BETWEEN TRUCK AND CAR
Plaintiff a 42 yearl old wife suffered extensive fractures to her left leg when she was pinned between the back of
a telephone company truck and the front of a car. On the eve of trial a structured settlement was reached providing
plaintiff with more than $6 million as projected total settlement. In addition, the Workers Compensation lien was
reduced from $385,000 to $5,000.
$1,150,000 FOR TEENAGE PASSENGER WITH HAND INJURY
The plainff sustained injury to his right arm and hand when the car in which he was a passenger overturned after
collision with another vehicle. His exposed hand and arm were pinned between the car roof and roadway causing a
crush injury. After a jury was selected, a settlement for 1.15 million over plaintiff's life was obtained.
$750,000 SETTLEMENT FOR WRONGFUL DEATH OF 94 YEAR OLD PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY BUS
94 year old pedestrian was struck by a bus while crossing a Brooklyn street. The decedent survived 7 days and endured
multiple surgical procedures. The $750,000 settlement was obtained prior to depositions.
$75,000 FOR POLICE OFFICER INJURED ON FIRING RANGE
Plainiff, a 36 year old female police officer, reinjured a prior hand injury when she was ordered to pull the trigger
of her service revolver. This resulted in nerve damage to her trigger finger and hand.
